The Australian Pioneer Trilogy

Three Books.

Three different families.

Three regions of New South Wales.

Gwydir Region, North-west NSW.

Macleay region, upper north coast of NSW.

Central Western region of NSW

Convicts and free settlers. Pioneers all. They all struggled to survive and build modern Australia.

Convicts to Pioneers Beyond the Settled Regions

Jane Ruth Kirby Dale and Thomas Lanagan came from two different worlds but their first brushes with the law sent them to a strange and different land on the other side of the world where they and their children became pioneers beyond the settled regions. Together with their children, they endured the harsh Australian landscape surviving droughts and floods where they lost everything. They became respected members of the community and recognised pioneers.

Ballynamadoo Flanagans

Over nearly eleven years the Flanagan family of Ballynamadoo, County Cavan left the starving, fever-ridden, bloodstained emerald isle of injustice and challengers. Reunited by the peaceful Macleay River, NSW, the climate here would bring its own challenges. Drought then flooding rains would wipe out all they had built up. This resilient family would then start again. Tragically not all survived to see better lives and prosperity for the next generation. As in Ireland, the Banshee would cry. The next generation again would be left with only one parent to raise a young family.

The Dempsey Vault

Deep within the Dempsey Vault lie the past lives of a Cork Convict and a Monteagle Maid. He a convict sent to Australia. She a free settler who chose Australia for a better life. Together they became pioneers of the Central West of New South Wales along with their children. Many a pioneer’s story lie within the pages of The Dempsey Vault.

I’m enjoying the book immensely I feel I’m with them as they struggle through floods, celebrate births of children and sadly bury love ones . All the names I know from way back when Mum did the family history . I know Mum would love the book Catherine. Congratulations .
